SHAH ALAM: Selangor FC lawyer Haijan Omar said they have yet to be updated on the investigation of the acid attack on Faisal Halim.

Haijan said that apart from general police statements, neither Selangor nor Faisal has been updated on the case.

He said although there have been no updates from the authorities, he believes that the police are investigating to the best of their ability to bring the perpetrators to justice.

"We have full confidence in the police conducting investigation with the highest level of professionalism and we believe they will eventually apprehend the culprit," Haijan said at a special press conference at the Selangor Training Centre today.

"It is very clear... We believe it is appropriate to investigate this under serious criminal offences, Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or Section 307 for attempted murder."

Faisal was left in critical condition from the acid attack on May 5, and had to undergo four surgeries.

The 26-year-old was attacked by two unidentified assailants at a shopping centre in Damansara on May 5.

The police have released a photofit of a suspect on May 19 but the perpetrators have not been caught.

Haijan said they will not remain silent and will contact the police on the latest developments in the investigation.
