KUALA LUMPUR: National women's pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah marched into the Malaysia Masters semi-finals in style today.

The duo defeated Paris Olympics-bound Setyana Mapasa-Angela Yu of Australia 21-16, 21-8 in the last eight at the Axiata Arena.

They will next take on South Korea's sixth seeds Lee Yu Lim-Shin Seung Chan, who beat China's Keng Shu Liang-Zhang Chi 21-16, 21-17 in the quarter-final.

Though Pearly-Thinaah subdued the Koreans in the first round of the Kumamoto Masters in Japan last November, Thinaah feels that it won't be an easy ride to the final.

She said that their game is showing improvement but they still need to do more.

"I think it's a good win for us, we felt positive on court and compared to yesterday, we did better today but we need to do even better tomorrow," said Thinaah

"It has been some time since we played a tournament, reaching the semifinals is a good achievement. But it should not stop here, we have to be ready for tomorrow's match."

Meanwhile, Pearly attributed the win over the Aussie pair to good preparations.

"We prepared well from yesterday. They (Mapasa-Angela) had upset seeded players."
