KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended congratulations to the unity government for its victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election.

Anwar, who also serves as the PKR president, expressed appreciation to DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke for his cooperation throughout the by-election.

"Congratulations. I appreciate the cooperation from Anthony Loke. Congratulations for winning in KKB," he said in his speech at the PKR 25th anniversary celebration.

By 8pm today, its candidate, Pang Sock Tao, secured enough votes, slightly exceeding the simple majority required to win the seat.

Unofficial results showed Pang polled 12,733 votes.

The unofficial results showed her three other contenders obtained the following number of votes:

Khairul Azhari Saut (PN) - 9,066

Hafizah Zainudin (PRM) - 137

Nyau Ke Xin (Independent) - 170
