PUTRAJAYA: In a fiery speech warning its allies in the unity government, a PKR leader said those not aligned with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should just leave the ruling coalition.

Addressing more than 2,000 delegates, Selangor PKR Youth chief Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim touched on the loyalty crisis in the country's political atmosphere since the infamous "Sheraton Move" in 2020, which caused the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government to fall.

"But what is most crucial is the anti-party hopping act. Due to this act, politicians are bound to their respective parties, preventing the exploitation of the people.

"Those who were once part of our party, if they choose to leave, I believe all those on this stage will remain with us. Let them leave if they want to go. We will stay united with justice.

"During a recent general meeting, there were murmurs from coalition partners in the unity government, offering dual sentiments to our president. My advice to fellow coalition members is if you feel insincere about being with us, just leave. There's no need to be a thorn in our flesh."

Later, when contacted by the New Straits Times, Izuan admitted that it was a subtle jab against MIC deputy president M. Saravanan's speech during the party's congress last week.

In Tapah's lawmaker's speech, he said that MIC would not hesitate to take the "next step" if the party was not "properly recognised" by Anwar.

However, it was reported that the former human resources minister did not clarify the steps that would be taken and the kind of recognition.
