BESUT: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Jertih state assembly seat Rozaini Rasli or better known as Koja is thrilled when he was selected as the youngest candidate for Terengganu's 15th state election.

Contesting for the first time, Rozaini said although he was nervous about the atmosphere on nomination day, he did not expect to receive overwhelming support from people of all ages.

He said despite Jertih being B's stronghold in the 14th General Election (GE14), the result of GE15 for the Besut parliamentary constitution reflected otherwise.

"However, this is not an easy route for me to retain Jertih and seek victory in this state's election.

"So far, from the 13 voting centres I visited, they have expressed their support and enthusiasm for BN to win.

"Having their trust and support served as a springboard and motivated me to fight harder for the welfare of the people," he said when met at the Besut District Council nomination centre in Gong Kemuntong, Jertih, here.

Also accompanying the BN candidate were former Besut Member of Parliament Tan Sri Idris Jusoh, and Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

Terengganu Umno Youth chief Tengku Haphiz Tengku Putera as well as Bera Umno Youth chief Nashriq Ismail Sabri were also present.

Koja, who turns 35 this year, said his primary objective was to fight for the people's welfare and restore what the Jertih state assembly could have received before the Pas administration in Terengganu.

"Previously, the people received Raya aid every year, but during the Pas government, the funds were only distributed once every few years," he said.

He said Terengganu BN's manifesto, which offers an interest-free motorcycle purchase loan of RM 5,000 (subsidy of RM 500), would be able to attract the young voters to choose the party.

"We also welcome the manifesto of wanting to resume the third phase of the East Coast Highway, building a four-lane road from Kuala Terengganu to Besut to make it easier and faster for the people of Besut to seek treatment at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ)," he said.
