PETALING JAYA: A man was found dead after his vehicle veered off into a drain along the Bukit Jalil Highway towards Kuala Lumpur near Bandar Kinrara here today.

It is understood that the 42-year-old victim had been reported missing since last Saturday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said they received a call for assistance to retrieve the body at 3pm.

According to him, a team from the Puchong Fire and Rescue Station comprising five personnel rushed to the scene.

"Operations commander Ahmad Rijal Hanifah reported that a BMW car was believed to have veered into the drain.

"A local man was found inside the car and confirmed deceased, approximately 60 hours after the incident. The team then proceeded to extract the victim's body," he said in a statement today.

He added that the victim's body was successfully removed a few minutes later and handed over to the police for further action.

Earlier, news circulated on social media regarding the disappearance of a man who left home driving a BMW car and was last seen at 1:40pm last Saturday.
