KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno supreme council member revealed that he will be raising a few issues for discussion during the party's council meeting tonight.

Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said it involved the recommendation that the Umno supreme council must maintain its role in being the check and balance for the new Unity Government.

He said this includes the recommendation of setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to carry out an investigation on former Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas, Appeals Court Judge Datuk Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali and former Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz.

Apart from this, Puad said there were also calls to fast track investigations involving Lembaga Tabung Haji.

"It feels like the issue of party discipline will also be put forth for discussion and deliberation, especially those who openly criticised the president," he told Berita Harian earlier today.

It is understood that two meetings will take place involving the political bureau and the supreme council which will take place at Menara Dato' Onn.

Another Umno supreme council member, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said that the programme taking place tonight at Menara Dato' Onn was just another normal meeting.
