KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pas will meet with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to find out about the party's position in the coalition.

Its secretary Dr Aliakbar Gulasan said the establishment of the GRS was agreed by all component parties during the Sabah State Election in 2020.

"However, we from Sabah Pas think this matter (over the party's position) should be re-examined.

"Therefore, we will personally meet with the GRS chairman in the near future as this party is not mentioned as one of the component parties in GRS as reported in the mass media.

"In principle, our position is still with the Perikatan Nasional but in terms of the (newly formalised) GRS, we do not have much information," he told the media after officiating the Engine Oil Change Program at Surau Austral here.

He said this when asked to comment following the GRS announcement last Friday which stated that there were four parties that were members of the coalition.

The four parties are Bersatu, Parti Bersatu Sabah (SAPP), Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP) while Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) are GRS partners in the state government.

Meanwhile, Aliakbar said, his party did not want this to be a source of dispute between Sabah Pas and GRS.

"We don't want to use the word 'neglected' to avoid misunderstandings.

"This is because we are still among the GRS component partners before the coalition is being registered," he said.

On Friday, Hajiji had announced the appointment of three GRS deputy chairmen, namely PBS president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili; STAR President, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and SAPP President, Datuk Yong Teck Lee.

Hajiji also showed the media the official symbol of GRS in the form of the alphabet 'GRS' in dark blue, red and light blue against the background of blue lines that form the image of Mount Kinabalu.
