IPOH: The people of Perak are urged to vote wisely and avoid repeating the mistake of allowing the DAP-dominated opposition pact to rule the state for 11 months in 2008.

Former PKR Changkat Jering assemblyman Datuk Osman Jailu reminded the state’s voters that DAP was still the dominant force in the opposition pact in Perak.

He also pointed out that the DAP-dominated state administration had been very unfair when it was in power.

“Firstly, DAP created an imbalance in forming a government based on racial segregation,” he told a press conference here today.

“Secondly, DAP tried to dominate the position of chairman in all the state committees, over PKR and Pas.

“Thirdly, DAP gave the important portfolios to their men, while two other committee chairmen and I were given less important portfolios.

“Here, we can see that DAP dominated the seat allocations. DAP also acted like a kingmaker and decision maker. “During the first state assembly question-and-answer session, DAP asked the state finance officer to table the allowances and emoluments paid to the Sultan of Perak and the royal family.”

“As a Perakian who is loyal to the Sultan, I was very disapointed. Some even joked about it...’Hei, baru lahir pun sudah dapat elaun ke?’ (Hey, you were just born and you are already receiving an allowance?)” he said, adding that only God knew what had motivated them to do so.

Osman also pointed out that the DAP-dominated state administration had granted 999-year land lease titles and given the excuse that it had been promised in the opposition’s manifesto. But, he said, there was no joint manifesto at the time.

Osman said there were allegations that then menteri besar, Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, was a DAP puppet.

“DAP also arbitrarily passed large tracts of land to bodies in which they had interests and approved many timber concessions to their cronies.”

Osman said he felt that these issues should be highlighted so that the people of Perak understood what it was like when the opposition pact ruled Perak after the 12th General Election.

“Do you want the same situation to happen again after GE14? I am holding this press conference because I don’t want the same mistake to recur. I am not racist, but what I am saying is true.

“I come here today without being forced by anyone. I did so willingly because of Allah,” he added.
