ALOR STAR: Kedah Umno youth described PKR’s move to accept Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as an interim prime minister if Pakatan Harapan won the next general election, as an insult to reforms ideal.

State Umno youth chief Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin said this proved that PKR had become desperate, disrespectful and shameless.

He said the move had also destroyed PKR's political idealism.

"I wish to remind PKR and Pakatan Harapan that Malaysians are wise and mature not to return a 'drocanian' leader into the country’s mainstream politics.

"It is mind-boggling that today, the 'drocanian' leader has once again become a favourite among the PKR leadership," he said in a statement today.

Shaiful said PKR’s decision showed that the party had become a coward and that its idea of reforms would end in Dr Mahathir's "political pocket".

"Dr Mahathir's return as the director of a political game makes PKR youth look weak and helpless.”

Shaiful said Umno should not be worried by the move as it would work in favour of Barisan Nasional as Dr Mahathir no longer attracted the interest of voters.

"The move by PKR proves that Pakatan Harapan is a weak political cooperation which has no space for new, young and progressive leaders to be promoted as a candidate for the post of prime minister.”

Shaiful was commenting on an online news report that PKR had set three conditions that must be met before agreeing to Dr Mahathir being made as an interim prime minister if Pakatan won in the next election.
