KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines continues to expand the diversity of its talent by celebrating the success of its first four Orang Asli cabin crew members to join the national carrier.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Managing Director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said the four members from Batch 1/2024 and Batch 2/2024 underwent a three-month training programme at the MAB Academy.
Amyisha Nurshahira Rosman from the Jakun tribe, Sarah Elissa Tang Aman from the Temuan tribe, and Veena Angelina Jincis and Alzariza Alwi from the Semai tribe were among the 56 trainees who graduated and have been serving on Malaysia Airlines flights since May 7.
They completed a comprehensive training module that included grooming, public speaking, hospitality, first aid, hazardous materials handling, and aircraft familiarisation.
"We are proud to welcome the first group of cabin crew from the Orang Asli community into the Malaysia Airlines family.
"This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and inclusiveness in our workforce.
"It also ensures equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of their background," he said in a statement yesterday.
Malaysia Airlines, he said, carried out recruitment in Pahang, Perak, and Johor, covering various tribes such as Jakun, Temuan, and Semai in collaboration with the Department of Orang Asli Development.
He said Malaysia Airlines will also participate in the Special Career Carnival for Orang Asli on August 24 and 25, 2024, as part of the search for cabin crew and pilot cadets.
He said the group is always committed to diversity, inclusiveness, and equality in the workplace.
"The group will continue to intensify efforts to recruit international cabin crew, promoting diversity and personalising services for global customers.
"This includes recruiting cabin crew from key markets such as India, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia," he said.
Recently, Malaysia Airlines was listed in the Top 10 World's Best Airline Cabin Crew at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2024.
