REMBAU: Umno’s state-level Flag Run 2017 kicked off its second day here with 500 motorcyclists moving in a convoy alongside 200 runners, whose final destination is Sikamat.

Enthusiasm was high among 1,000 Umno members and supporters who had gathered at the run’s starting point as early as 7am to witness the flagging-off by Chembong state assemblyman, Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris.

The run commenced yesterday at the Melaka-Negri Sembilan border in Lubok Cina, when the Melaka Umno Flag Run contingent, headed by Melaka Umno chairman and Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Haron, passed the Umno flag to Negri Umno chairman and Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

Today’s run will see participants move through Rantau, Kampung Sri Lalang, Kombok, Sungai Gadut, Taman Tuanku Jaafar, Senawang and Paroi.

Motorcyclist and runners will make a pit-stop at the multipurpose hall in Rantau before continuing their journey.

Once in Seremban, Umno Rembau division will hand over the flag to Umno Seremban division chief Datuk Abu Ubaidah Redza, who will carry it through the Seremban Gateway Centre, Plaza Angsana Seremban, before ending the run at the Desa Rhu multipurpose hall in Kem Sikamat, later today.

The state-level Flag Run will continue for the third and final day tomorrow from Sikamat, before proceeding to Labu, Nilai and ending in Beranang, Selangor, where the flag will be handed over by the Sang Saka Bangsa to Umno Selangor.

Negri Sembilan’s Umno Flag Run will cover a distance of 111km and involve 7,400 participants.
