KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has poked fun at Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's Langkah Muar protest run, which began on Friday.

In a quick-witted reply to reporters after an event in Parliament today (July 1) over issues of allocation for opposition lawmakers, Fadillah jokingly said he needed to do a similar run first.

"Wait for me to do a run (first) for the allocation (for the opposition)," he said in response to questions about Syed Saddiq's protest run to demand a parliamentary allocation of RM4 million annually or RM20 million per term, as received by government members of parliament.

The Muar MP managed to collect RM160,000 from the run. ()

He also said the run aimed to raise RM100,000 for the Muar service centre to ensure it could continue operating and assisting people.

Fadilah previously said the unity government secretariat's top leadership had decided to consider allocating funds for opposition MPs.

He said the secretariat had agreed to prepare a memorandum of understanding draft, which would be presented to the opposition for negotiation.
