KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has denied Muar member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's claims that the government did not provide the constituency any allocations.

Fadillah also denied that the Muda president met him three times over the issue.

He said he met Syed Saddiq twice on the issue but he could not make any decision as the issue of allocations must be discussed with opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

Fadillah said, the government allocated funds for the Muar parliamentary constituency, but it was not channeled through Syed Saddiq.

"Perhaps, he means allocations (for MPs), because the government has channelled funds for the constituency," he said after handing out bubur lambuk at Surau Al-Hidayah in Petra Jaya today.

He was commenting on Syed Saddiq's claim in the Dewan Rakyat, that his constituency had yet to receive a single sen in allocations despite three meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister.

However, in a written parliamentary reply, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) said over RM300 million was channeled to the Muar constituency through various projects.

Fadillah said the issue of allocations for the MPs themselves had yet to be finalised as the opposition leader had yet to meet him on the matter.

A meeting between him, Hamzah, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, and Bersatu vice-president Datuk Dr Ronald Kiandee was supposed to take place last week.

However, it was postponed as Takiyuiddin returned to Kelantan for an urgent matter.

"So they asked to postpone the meeting and we are expected to meet next week though the date has not been finalised.

"I need to hear their requests, then I can bring it to the government and present it, the conditions for it (allocations), and so on," he said.
