KUALA LUMPUR: A number of cars were left stranded on the road after several areas in Melaka have been hit by flash floods following torrential rain this afternoon.

Free Malaysia Today reported, there were pictures and videos on social media showing cars left stranded in waters above knee level.

"The affected areas include Lebuh Sungai Udang-Paya Rumput-Ayer Keroh near Jalan Autocity, Jalan Gangsa, and Jalan Krubong towards Pantai Belimbing," said the public works department.

The area surrounding the Melaka International Trade Centre was also affected.

Netizens also reported flooding around UiTM and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia in Melaka.

Melaka River Cruise announced it halted boat services due to rising water levels and strong currents in the Melaka River, caused by unpredictable weather and heavy rainfall.
