KUALA LUMPUR: Ed Sheeran's recent immersion in painting traditional Batik and experiencing a classic shave at a local barber in Malaysia has captured the public's attention.

In a video shared on his Instagram account during his +-=÷× (Mathematics) Tour's Asian leg last week, Ed Sheeran momentarily shed his superstar persona to embrace these local activities as a casual tourist.

His genuine curiosity about traditional Batik and wax painting was evident as he enthusiastically delved into the craft, engaging in light-hearted conversation with his Malaysian fans who joined him.

"So, I love painting at home. Whilst out in Malaysia I wanted to try some traditional Batik and do some wax painting.

"We got hit up by some fans as well, so I thought I bring them along," he said in the video posted on his Instagram reel.

After his artistic endeavour, he made a beeline for a local barber shop with a rich history dating back to 1937.

Opting for a classic Malaysian-style shave, the friendly barber left him thoroughly impressed.

"I just saw a razor shave which I have never had a traditional razor shave.

"Probably, the cleanest shave I have ever had," he said.

In yet another spontaneous move, Ed Sheeran casually dropped by a nearby florist and handpicked a beautiful bouquet.

With a warm smile, he presented the bouquet to his guide as a gesture of appreciation.

The video, captioned "I love Malaysia", was flooded with Malaysians praising the British Pop Sensation for embracing the country's culture.

"Thank you, Ed, for loving Malaysia. As a Malaysian, I feel proud of my country's traditions, cultures, and amazing spots," said user @wilsontwss.

"I love how much you embrace the culture of all the countries you visit on your tours," commented @superjules69.

"Oh man, I wish I was part of the people who were bringing you around KL!" said @ayeshaellya.
