NIBONG TEBAL: Supporters of the unity government and Perikatan Nasional (PN) have started gathering at different points to march to Dewan Serbaguna Jawi here.
Today is nomination day for the Sungai Bakap by-election.
As of yesterday, only the unity government and PN have confirmed fielding candidates for the by-election.
The unity government will be represented by former educator Dr Joohari Ariffin while PN will be represented by Abidin Ismail, the late Pas assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff's special officer.
The by-election was triggered by Nor Zamri's death on May 24.
Analysts have predicted that both candidates stand an equal chance of winning.
There is heavy police presence to monitor the situation.
