NIBONG TEBAL: Unity government's candidate for the Sungai Bakap by-election, Dr Joohari Ariffin, arrived at the nomination centre at Dewan Serbaguna Jawi here about 8.47am.
He was accompanied by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is the state Pakatan Harapan chairman.
Also accompanying him were Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.
Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional's candidate Abidin Ismail arrived at 8.50am.
He was accompanied by Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Bersatu vice-president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin and Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau.
At 9am, returning officer Khairulnizam Hashim announced that those competing for the Sungai Bakap by-election could field their nomination papers.
