KOTA KINABALU: Agrobank has disbursed financing totalling RM2.5 billion from 2019 to 2023, benefiting entrepreneurs in agricultural, fisheries and livestock industries in Sabah.
Agrobank president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said it would continue to support the economic development of Sabah.
He said the bank's initiatives were in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya agenda which focused on economic growth driven by key sectors, specifically agriculture.
Agrobank also collaborates with federal and state agencies as well as traders' associations.
Among the collaborations are MD2 pineapple contract farming project in Beaufort worth RM6 million, startup fund of RM0.6 million for B40 group called Pemulih Newbiz and financing of RM1.09 million for women entrepreneurs (Agro Teras Nisaa).
"We remain committed to providing inclusive banking access covering rural communities in efforts to boost the economy and improve livelihoods while creating job opportunities," he said in a statement.
Agrobank representatives visited the Sabah chief minister's office to discuss initiatives to strengthen the agricultural sector.
