KUALA LUMPUR: Artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT is experiencing an outage, leaving thousands of users with difficulties in accessing its service.

According to the outage tracking website DownDetector, 81 per cent of users globally were affected by the outage, with approximately 14 per cent being unable to access the website, while another 12 per cent were experiencing issues with its application.

The website also indicated that over 3,000 users globally had been affected by the outage since 2pm today.

Checks by the New Straits Times revealed that users could access the website and type their questions in the dialogue box. However, the "enter" button was unresponsive and the bot would not reply to queries.

At the same time, access to previous chats was also unavailable on both the website and application.
