GUA MUSANG: The Fire and Rescue Department's Air Unit conducted a medical evacuation flight to bring two Orang Asli patients from Pos Balar and Kampung Tendrik, Pos Bihai, to the hospital, here yesterday.
Tiara Syakila Jamal, 11, from Pos Balar, and Empeng Pelinejon, 18, from Kampung Tendrik, Pos Bihai, were airlifted to the Gua Musang Hospital.
The Fire and Rescue Department's Subang Central Region public relations officer said the patients were taken by the department's Mil Mi-17-IV helicopter to the hospital to receive follow-up treatment.
"The helicopter arrived at the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Department at 3.35pm where the patients were handed over to Health Ministry staff who were already waiting, before being taken to the Gua Musang Hospital," he said in a statement, here, today.
Empeng's father, Pelinejon Assut, 40, said his son had been sick for the past four days and was vomiting frequently, causing him to be weak.
"The hospital is far and we have to go through log roads and use a four-wheel drive vehicle. In his condition, there was no way he could handle the long journey. Fortunately, we were able to get assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department's Air Unit, which often helps the Orang Asli in the interior," he said.
