GUA MUSANG: The Fire and Rescue Department's Air Unit conducted a medical evacuation flight (Medevac) to transport a young Orang Asli boy from Pos Bihai to Gua Musang Hospital (HGM) yesterday.

Arafal Danas Al Addy, 3, accompanied by his mother, Sawana John, 34, was airlifted to the hospital using a Mi-17-IV helicopter.

The Fire and Rescue Department's Subang Central Region public relations officer, Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Rizzan Jefri, said the child had to be given respiratory assistance due to a high fever, fatigue, cough and cold.

"The patient required respiratory assistance throughout the flight from Pos Bihai to HGM. The aircraft departed from the Northern Region Air Base in Penang at 3.05pm and arrived at Pos Bihai at 4.05pm.

"After picking up the patient, the aircraft continued its flight to the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Department and arrived at 4.35 pm.

"The patient was transported to HGM using an ambulance that was already waiting there," he said in a statement here today (April 23).

He said the operation was led by pilot Mohd Azuna Mohamed Sabri and assisted by Mohd Faizal Abd Latiff and six other flight crews.

"The aircraft departed back to the Northern Region Air Base in Penang at 4.40pm and landed safely at 6.05pm.

"The weather conditions were relatively good, with rain in some areas and visibility exceeding 10 kilometres (km)," he said.
