BATU PAHAT: A Singaporean superbike-rider was severely injured when he crashed into a car at KM80.3 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) on Saturday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the Kawasaki ZX10R rider crashed into the rear of a Honda Civic on the far-right lane of the two-lane highway.

The rider was thrown off his machine, while the impact of the crash caused the car to spin. However, the Malaysian driver escaped unhurt.

The motorcyclist suffered injuries to one leg, hand, and body. He was rushed to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital.

The case is being investigated for driving recklessly.

It is learnt the Singaporean was part of a convoy of super-bikers from the republic heading towards Melaka when the accident occurred.

A one-minute-10-second video footage from a helmet camera on the accident has gone viral on social media.

The footage showed the rider speeding along the highway on his 998cc machine, before crashing into the Honda.

It also showed the Kawasaki reduced to a mangled wreckage.
