KUALA LUMPUR: The tyre of a bulldozer that was being inflated at a service centre in Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh near here, exploded, killing one worker and injuring his friend on Tuesday.
Earlier, an audio recording as well as a photo showing two men lying in a pool of blood with one of them seriously injured went viral on social media, believed to be linked to the incident.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, said the incident occured at a tyre service centre in Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh last Tuesday.
"We confirm the incident happened on Apr 30 at about 12.40pm at a tyre service centre, in Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh.
"According to the results of the investigation, the incident is believed to have occurred when two local men who are also workers at the service centre were inflating the tires of a bulldozer when it suddenly exploded," he said in a statement today.
As a result of the incident, he said one victim died at the scene while another victim was seriously injured and taken to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
"The deceased victim was 19 years old, while the seriously injured victim was 21 years old and both were workers at the service centre.
"This case is classified as sudden death and an investigation paper has been opened related to this case," he said.
In the meantime, he advised the public not to spread pictures related to the incident in order to respect the victim's family.
