PETALING JAYA: A teenage girl was killed after being thrown out of a car while six others were injured in a road accident involving five vehicles at KM458.6 of the North-South Expressway near the Restoran Jejantas Sungai Buloh here, yesterday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaaafar said the 18-year-old was traveling in a car with two friends, all private college students, from Subang towards Sungai Buloh when the accident occurred.

"Initial investigations indicated that at 8.40pm, the Honda City carrying the victim and two others lost control while attempting to overtake a Toyota Vios.

"The Honda City tried to pass from the left side, but lost control when re-entering the right lane after completing the manoeuvre," he told Harian Metro today.

Shahrulnizam said due to the lack of time to evade, the Toyota Vios driven by a 36-year-old man collided with the skidding Honda City and then struck the road divider.

"The impact caused the Honda City to skid and swerve into the second lane, where it was subsequently struck by another car and a motorcycle, both unable to avoid the collision in time," he added.

All those involved, including the deceased victim, were rushed to Sungai Buloh Hospital for further investigation and treatment.

Shahrulnizam concluded that the case was under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
