SHAH ALAM: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin broke fast with some 1,000 residents in Selangor at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque in Bukit Jelutong near here today.
Accompanied by Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the Royal couple arrived at the mosque at 6.15pm.
In tow to welcome their arrival was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
At the event, the Sultan also presented RM244,500 in contributions to 489 people from the poor and hard poor families in conjunction with Ramadan and the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Sultan Sharafuddin also presented the contributions amounting to RM3.36 million to the Selangor Zakat Board from two companies, Sime Darby Property Bhd and CelcomDigi Bhd.
Sultan Sharafuddin later proceeded to perform the Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers with the people at the mosque.
