PETALING JAYA: Nearly 50,000 residents of Taman Medan here have reiterated their backing for the implementation of the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) highway, as stated by the Federation of Taman Medan Residents' Associations.

The federation highlighted the project's anticipated benefits for the local community, including addressing congestion issues, upgrading roads, and enhancing infrastructure, all of which could significantly improve residents' quality of life.

Traffic congestion has been a persistent challenge for Taman Medan residents, affecting daily activities such as commuting to work and school drop-offs, particularly along roads leading to Puchong and the Shah Alam Expressway from Jalan Klang Lama.

The federation, in an FMT report, said that maintaining the project's original alignment is crucial to maximising benefits, as altering it could prolong traffic congestion and hinder economic growth and job opportunities.

The call to expedite the approval and implementation of the PJD Link project was directed towards the Selangor government and relevant authorities.

The statement comes after Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari urged the project developer to renegotiate its alignment with the federal government, following a social impact assessment report revealing mixed opinions among residents.
