KUALA LUMPUR: The developer of the Petaling Jaya Traffic Dispersal Link (PJD Link) will be notified in writing about the project's cancellation soon, said Work Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said the developer had not been notified as the cancellation of the highway project was just announced by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil yesterday.

"Indeed the cancellation of the highway construction project was decided by the cabinet (yesterday).

"As stated by Fahmi yesterday, the PJD Link has been cancelled because it was given a period (to meet the conditions).

"So, when that period ended and they couldn't meet the required conditions, That's why it was automatically cancelled," he said.

Asked if any compensation was due to the developer, he said the ministry would look into it.

"For now, I'm not sure. I think maybe not, but we'll see because we need to check (first)," he said.

Yesterday, Fahmi said the cabinet had decided not to proceed with PJD Link, after the concessionaire failed to meet six of the 11 conditions.

"However, it is important to note that the cabinet agreed that there would be no extension of time to meet the remaining requirement precedents.

"Previously, the company applied twice for an extension to meet the set conditions. As a result of that failure, the project was not continued," he said at a press conference yesterday.
