"Today, we decided to perform the prayers as we are worried over the high cases of people jumping off bridges in Kelantan.

"Ending our lives in such way will not solve problems. Instead, it will bring more problems.

"As Muslims and members of the public, it is our responsibilty to educate our families and friends," said Mohd Nassuruddin.

It is learnt that the special prayers were held as three people had fallen to their death off the bridge known as the Sultan Ismail Petra bridge.

The three were among 17 who had committed suicide by jumping off several bridges in Kelantan over the past three years.

Fire and Rescue Department director Zainal Madasin said the statistics were recorded since 2021 until Jan 15 at six bridges in Kelantan.

He said the Sultan Yahya Petra bridge recorded the highest number of cases at nine.

This was followed by the Tendong bridge (three), Salor bridge (two) and Tok Bali, Pak Nik Lah as well as Wakaf King bridges each recorded one case each.
