KOTA BARU: The body of a cosmetics businessman who went missing after he jumped off Tendong bridge on Jan 15, was found yesterday (Jan 28) evening.

The decomposed body was found at Pulau Dollah, near Pantai Kuda in Kuala Besar, by a fisherman who had spotted it washed ashore at around 6pm.

Eyewitness Mohd Faizal Ibrahim, 44, said he was contacted by his friend to come to the location to verify the body before rushing to the scene on Kuda Island.

"My friend wanted to fish and was looking for a spot around the location to relieve himself in his boat before he saw an object resembling a human body. He immediately contacted me, and upon arrival, I took a closer look and confirmed that it was indeed a fully clothed human body lying face down.

"The body was swollen and had a certain odour, and I immediately contacted the authorities to report the discovery of the body," he said when met here last night.

Also present at the discovery site were family members, including the victim's wife, who confirmed that the body belonged to her husband based on the identification of the belt and pants he was wearing.

Kota Baru Fire and Rescue operation commander Che Mazlan Mohamad said the department received a call at 9.08pm.

"Soon after receiving the call, we deployed a team to the scene to assist the police to pull out the body from the sea.

"The body was later handed over to the police," he said.

Police then sent the body to Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital for post-mortem.

Until Press time, no official statement was given by the police.
