KOTA BARU: A man went missing after falling off the Sultan Yahya Petra bridge here today.

This is the 18th such incident recorded by the Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department since 2021 — 10 at the bridge and eight at other bridges in Tendong bridge (three), Salor (two), Tok Bali, Pak Nik Lah and Wakaf King (one each)

Its director Zainal Madasin said the latest incident involved a local man, in his 30s.

"We received a report on the incident at 9.46am and immediately deployed a 12-man team, including divers, to the scene.

"The team was from Darulnaim and Pengkalan Chepa stations," he told reporters at the department's Hari Raya open house here today.

Zainal said the team had yet to locate the man.

Following the increase of such cases, the Kelantan government had organised special prayers on the Sultan Yahya Petra bridge early this year to seek God's help.
