JOHOR BAHRU: The Department of Social Welfare (JKM) is seeking public assistance to identify the family of a two-year-old boy named Yusoff.

A JKM spokesperson said that Yusoff was referred to the Johor Bahru District JKM office from Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) on October 24 last year.

The child was reportedly left alone in a public vehicle around Plaza Pelangi, Johor Bahru, with no identification documents.

Currently, the child is placed in temporary child protection.

"For this case, the protector has obtained a court order for an exception to restrictions on reporting and media coverage under Section 15 of the Child Act 2001 to aid in the investigation of the child and his family.

"Anyone who recognises the biological mother of the child can contact the Johor Bahru District Department of Social Welfare or the Child Protector, Muhammad Arif Mohd Tamrin, at 07-2232606," he said through a Facebook (FB) post.
