SUNGAI PETANI: Five siblings from Taman Pahlawan here were orphaned after their parents were killed in a motorcycle crash while trying to evade a wild boar.

Mohd Norzianal Mohd Ainol, 46, and wife Suhana Othman, 43, died on the spot from severe head and body injuries after crashing into an electric pole near the Kuala Muda police headquarters.

During the fateful incident, the couple was travelling on a Duke KTM motorcycle, buying dinner for their children.

The couple's eldest child Fatin Hanani, 23, said they were informed of the devastating news by policemen who came knocking on their door at about 1am yesterday.

"I was in total disbelief but when the policemen showed the identity cards of my parents, I realised that it was for real.

"My siblings broke down upon learning that our parents were gone. We were taken to the crash site and saw the bodies of our parents. It felt like our world had ended," said the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) student who is on her semester break.

The couple is survived by Fatin and four other children Aida Batrisya, 17, Alya Batrisya, 16, Adlin Irfan, 15, and seven-year-old Adib Leman.

"It is a huge blow to us, suddenly losing both of our parents but I will take care of my siblings," she said.

Meanwhile, Aida Batrisya said her father, a water filter sales manager, had left the house with her mother to buy dinner when they were involved in the fatal crash.

She said the siblings would probably be moving to a house belonging to her mother in Taman Kempas as the home they are living in now is a rented house.

The couple's bodies were buried at the Sungai Batu Muslim cemetery in Merbok yesterday evening.
