KUALA LUMPUR: Tengku Sulaiman Shah Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj, the Tengku Laksamana of Selangor, has called upon the nation to promote the Royal Town of Klang as a tourism destination.

Highlighting the 30-day travel visa-free exemption for visitors from India and China, he emphasised the Royal Town of Klang's renowned Indian cultural heritage.

Speaking at the Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Sama Sama Hotel, Tengku Sulaiman Shah expressed optimism about the continued success of tourism in Malaysia, particularly with the added incentive of free visas for Indian and Chinese travellers.

He set an ambitious target of attracting five million Chinese tourists, citing the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China as a significant opportunity.

As the patron of MITA, Tengku Sulaiman Shah provided valuable advice to the association, urging them to stay abreast of current technological and digital advancements.

He said the industry has evolved over the years, hence the association must be able to adapt to it.

"MITA members should take the initiative to change business attitudes, increase technological and digital knowledge, make targeted promotions and build cooperation between members.

"As for the executives, you must be visionary, dare to voice the wishes of the industry to certain parties as well as monitor the latest developments," he added.

Also present was MITA newly elected president Mint Leong Hoon Min.
