ALOR STAR: Ferry operators to Langkawi, comprising various companies, will add value to the service, thus offering more options to passengers.
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said that apart from benefitting users, such healthy competition will help to improve the level of service of existing ferry operators.
"If there are more ferry operators, it will be merrier. Each passenger will look for one that provides the best service," he told reporters after officiating Wisma KFA (Kedah Football Association) here yesterday (Nov 23).
He was asked to comment on the issue that went viral on social media yesterday about a ferry operator claiming that the company's application to operate a ferry service to Langkawi was unsuccessful despite having met the stipulated conditions.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Sanusi said that in addition to ferry services, any company could also provide water taxi services to Langkawi.
"Water taxi fares are expensive but it can be done. Some people do it. If you have an emergency, you want to go to Langkawi fast, you can use a water taxi," he said. --BERNAMA
