ALOR STAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he has never set a target or even dream of becoming the prime minister.

However, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Pas election director said he would not turn down the party's instruction to hold any position.

"I can't set any target and I have ever dreamt of it. Allah have destined me to be in this position (Menteri Besar), like all the previous leaders. To go further than that, it is up to the party leadership.

"I don't set any ambition but if I am entrusted by the (party) leadership to go anywhere (hold any position), I will give it a try for the sake of the party, members and the people, but not for myself," he said in a Press conference after the conclusion of the state assembly in Wisma Darul Aman here today.

Sanusi was responding to Pas Spiritual Leader Datuk Hashim Jasin's statement yesterday that the party has many candidates for the prime minister's job.

Hashim had named Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, vice-president Datuk Seri Idris Ahmad, vice-president and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Sanusi.

Commenting further, Sanusi said it was no impossible for the country to have a prime minister from Pas in the near future as the party has the most numbers of lawmakers in Dewan Rakyat.

Pas, a member of PN coalition, has 43 members of Parliament (MPs) followed by Bersatu with 31 MPs.

"Before this, I had said by 2050 we will have a prime minister from Pas, but maybe we will have one earlier than that, perhaps as early as next year because Pas has the most numbers of MPs in Parliament," he said in jest.
