Kuala Selangor: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari hopes he will retain his post, but will agree to any decision by the Pakatan Harapan leadership.

Amirudin, who is state PH chairman, said he, as a party member, would have to adhere to the strategies and plans formulated for the benefit of all parties involved.

"If people ask me about my stance, I 'prefer' to remain (as menteri besar).

"But what is certain is that the party leadership has not made a decision yet," he said at a press conference for the inauguration of the Selangor Raw Water Guarantee Scheme project at Rumah Pump HORAS 600, Kampung Sungai Darah, Bestari Jaya here.

Present was State Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Agriculture Modernisation and Agro-Based Industry Standing Committee Chairman Izham Hashim.

On if he was the ''poster boy" candidate for the state election, Amirudin said the matter would be decided by the party later.

"In Selangor, we want to accomplish everything, namely policy implementation and achieving success.

"I believe that a 'poster boy' is not everything. What is important is what we have delivered and implemented."

On comparisons with the previous menteri besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, Amirudin believed each person had their own strategy.

"Perhaps, each person can improve their strategy to bring about changes in the current direction.

"The party will continue to maintain 'consistency' and make efforts to connect with people on the ground as much as possible. During the five years the state government was in power, I attended four to five round of tours (Kita Selangor) and engaged with people personally. The response was very positive.

"They welcomed it, even though there were some who complained that our programmes were not widely known. That is a challenge that we have to face, given that Selangor has a population of seven million."

On the possibility of going against Azmin in the state election, Amirudin said he was prepared for such a scenario.

"I don't know if he (Azmin) suddenly wants to contest Sungai Tua. From Bukit (Antarabangsa), now he wants to go down to Sungai (Tua).

"I'm not sure. That's his strategy. We don't meet, we haven't had any discussion, let alone a plan."
