KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened up a section on its portal for the public to get updates on the progress of a case.

The section known as Timeline of Cases (TOC) was introduced today.

"The section provides accurate official information to the public on the status of certain MACC cases of public interest.

"The commission will provide as much information as can be reported without interfering with the ongoing investigation, affecting the accused's right to a fair trial, or causing reputational damage, or harm to the individual or organisation being investigated," it said.

MACC added that it would not comment on an investigation until charges, if any, are filed, unless the issue becomes of public interest and has received media coverage.

If so, MACC will likely confirm without revealing the details of the investigation.

The public will only have to type in keywords and the year, and a list of cases will be displayed.

The TOC column can be accessed here.
