KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers have arrested four enforcement officers alleged to have solicited and received bribes equalling about RM14,000 over a maintenance contract for boats belonging to a government agency.

They were said to have solicited the bribes from the owner of a company to help him get the contract.

Sources said the four men, aged between 42 and 59, were detained about 6pm today when they turned up to have their statements recorded at the Selangor MACC headquarters.

"Two of the suspects are based in Putrajaya and the other two are based in a district in Selangor. Initial investigations revealed that the suspects were believed to have solicited and received the bribes on a monthly basis from the owner of the company," said one source, adding that the money was deposited into their bank acocunts between 2019 and this year.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim, when contacted, confirmed the arrests, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.

He said the commission would seek remand orders for all four at the Shah Alam magistrate's court at 9am.
