SHAH ALAM: Four enforcement officers have been remanded for three days from today for allegedly soliciting and receiving RM14,000 in bribes from a company owner for five years.

Magistrate Muhammad Syafiq Sulaiman granted the remand order against the male suspects aged between 42 and 59 after hearing an application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. (MACC)

The suspects were detained at 6pm yesterday when they had their statements recorded at the Selangor MACC headquarters.

They were believed to have solicited and received the bribes on a monthly basis from the company owner.

It was meant as their reward for assisting the company owner in matters related to maintenance payment claims for boats owned by a government department.

Initial investigation revealed that the monies were banked into their respective bank accounts from 2019 to this year.

Two suspects are based in Putrajaya while the others are attached to a district in Selangor.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrests, adding that a probe was on-going under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
