KUALA LUMPUR: Seremban in the Negri Sembilan reported unhealthy air quality levels this morning due to a slight haze.

The Environment Department's Air Pollutant Index (API) reading showed an unhealthy air level of 102 for Seremban at 10am today, a decrease from yesterday's reading of 150 at 11am.

Unhealthy readings ranging from 102 to 150 were consistently observed throughout Thursday in the city.

Seremban is currently the only area in the country with an API higher than 100.

The areas closest in API reading to Seremban were Johan Setia, Selangor at 91; Banting, Selangor at 90; Nilai, Negri Sembilan at 89; Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu at 89, Segamat, Johor at 86; Kota Baru, Kelantan at 83; and Tangkak, Johor at 82.

Petaling Jaya in Selangor recorded a moderate API reading of 79 at 10am today, a drop from the unhealthy reading of 104 recorded at 11am yesterday.

An API reading of 101 to 200 is considered unhealthy, while an API reading between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and 300 and above is hazardous.
