PAPAR: The air quality in Kimanis reached the unhealthy level this afternoon.

The Department of Environment's (DoE) Air Pollution Index (API) portal showed Kimanis recorded an unhealthy API reading of 155 at 1pm.

The district began recording unhealthy air quality since 11pm yesterday, with a reading of 125 that continued to rise throughout the day.

The unhealthy readings come as several forest fires were reported this week.

Papar is also going through a drought in the past few weeks, prompting the District Disaster Management Committee (JBPD) to declare a disaster yesterday.
