ALOR STAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi has continued claiming that the cabinet is giving him the cold shoulder over federal government events in Kedah, including the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (Lima 2023) scheduled for next month.

This time, he sarcastically said he would still visit Lima 2023, even if it is as a public visitor.

Sanusi said as the menteri besar and Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) chairman, preparations including accommodation, transportations and security have been prepared in advance for the event.

"As such, even if I am not officially invited, I will still attend the event.

"I will take a pair of binoculars, buy a folding table and sit by the airport runway's fence to watch the exhibition.

"There are hawkers selling laksa at the end of the airport runway, so I can get to watch the exhibition from outside while enjoying laksa," he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting at Wisma Darul Aman here today.

Sanusi, however, said he has learnt that he would be eventually getting the invitation for Lima 2023, based on the reply by Deputy Defense Minister Adly Zahari in Dewan Negara recently.

However, pending the official invitation, Sanusi said he would still hold to his earlier claim that the cabinet had made a decision to bar him from the event.

"After I made a fuss over the restrictions imposed on the Kedah menteri besar, it seems they are extending the invitation.

"However, I will still wait for the official invitation since a cabinet decision can only be cancelled by a new cabinet decision over the same matter," he said.

Last week, Sanusi caused a stir when he claimed that he was being barred from being invited to any event or programme organised by the federal government, including upcoming Lima 2023.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has since denied the cabinet had issued such directive.
