ALOR STAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has once again made it clear that state government funds will not be used to pay footballers' salaries or resolve issues faced by Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) which has already been privatised.

Sanusi, who is also president of the Kedah Football Association (KFA), said KFA have already chanelled RM16 million to KDA FC since the club was formed.

"I do not use government money to pay football salaries," said Sanusi today.

"KFA has already supported KDA FC to the tune of RM16 million, do you think that is a small amount? And some people still say we did not help (them).

"The amount given recently is also in the millions but I don't want to make a fuss about it.

"The policy is simple. We should find money for football elsewhere."

Sanusi added that the amount that has been channeled to KDA FC is substantial and could make a positive impact if channelled to the needy.

"Imagine if we spent that RM16 million for orphans, which would be better if you compared it to football? Of course it would be the orphans," he said.

Sanusi said he is also worried that sponsors would be reluctant to sponsor Kedah as KFA had been investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MAAC) for graft in January.

"In football, when we go to look for (sponsorship) money, MACC comes and catches us, this is something that irks me," said Sanusi.

"All around the world, football associations are looking for funding and there are many means to find contributions.

"If you still insist playing politics in sports, that is what kills the game."
