KUALA LUMPUR: The cabinet has already formed a committee to consolidate selected election pledges made by parties within the unity government.

Economic Affairs Minister Rafizi Ramli said the cabinet had tasked Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali to set up the committee.

"We are a coalition of parties with different backgrounds, policies, and each with our own manifesto going into the 15th General Election (GE15).

"It is important to understand the coalition agreement not just in terms of details, but also concept. Now that all of us are in government, for us to quickly combine all the manifestos there is a time constraint," he told reporters after the Dewan Rakyat session today.

Rafizi said the negotiations for the selection of programmes and initiatives would be guided by the 18 points underlined in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed by party leaders in the unity government last Friday.

"I think the process is ongoing, it's only the second cabinet meeting and so far, the decision to streamline is ongoing."
