AMPANG: "The flood water rose suddenly. I could not even salvage anything. Everything was destroyed in a split second," said a resident Suria Idris whose house here was flooded following the heavy downpour on Monday.

Her house was located less than 10 metres from the river.

The 52-year-old said the rain started at 4pm and led to strong currents in the river, raising the water level drastically.
