TUARAN: A wild monkey broke into a house in Kampung Bungalio Kiulu here on Wednesday night, and gave the owners a fright.

In the 8pm incident, a housewife, known only as Lia, 34, was shocked to find the ani-
mal ransacking her kitchen in search of food.

“The monkey entered the house through an open kitchen window and grabbed fish food before we chased it out.

“It became aggressive and tried to attack my family members before climbing on top of the water tank outside the house and eating the food.”

Tuaran District Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Paulina Francis said she received a call on the incident at 8.22pm, and despatched a three-man team to the scene.

“The male monkey, which weighs 2kg, was found to be blind in the left eye, and was caught using a noose.

“It was placed in a cage and will be handed over to the Sabah Wildlife Department.”

Paulina said no injuries were reported in the operation.
