PETALING JAYA: 18 finalists will vie for the coveted Miss Universe Malaysia title for the year 2020.

Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation (MUMO) national director Datin Elaine Daly said the finalists had been picked not only based on beauty, but strength in character, determination and ambition.

“We have 18 beautiful girls here today, but only one will wear the Miss Universe Malaysia crown and ultimately represent Malaysia on the international stage.”

Currently undergoing “Boot Camp Week”, the finalists go through a series of training sessions including makeovers, catwalk training, fitness sessions, makeup workshops and photoshoots.

The finalists will be featured in an online show, The Next 2020 Miss Universe Malaysia, comprising 18 episodes to be aired starting Jan 23, followed by 10 episodes of their journey leading to the crowning of Miss Universe Malaysia on online lifestyle channel, www.hurr.tv.

The webisodes will also be available on the MUMO YouTube channel and the hurr.tv mobile app.

The crowning of the 2020 Miss Universe Malaysia will take place on March 5 at The Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The winner will have the opportunity of a lifetime to travel abroad representing the country at the Miss Universe pageant at a yet-to-be revealed location.

She will also receive a cash prize and sponsored prizes with a combined value of RM180,000 and a full education scholarship from HELP University.
