SEREMBAN: Police have beefed up its search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate Nora Anne Quoirin, the Irish teenager who went missing from a resort in Pantai here.
Nilai Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar said 206 officers and staff, and six dogs from the K9 Dog Unit (K9) were involved in the operation today, compared to 178 yesterday.
He said the search operation, which entered its fourth day, began as early as 7am.
"The operation involves the police and the Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (STORM) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department.
"Also joining the search efforts are The Malaysia Civil Defence Force, the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department and the General Operations Force," he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Nor said as of 11am, the operation was still continuing, and a press conference on the progress would be held at 3pm.
Nora was reported missing while staying at the beach resort here on Sunday, and the authorities immediately launched a search in the area.
The teenager, who has learning disability, is said to have come to Negeri Sembilan with her parents and two other siblings on a vacation.
