ALOR STAR: Police have found the body of a 62-year-old man, reported missing yesterday, on the banks of Sungai Kedah near Ampang Jajar here today.
Kota Star district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said the body was found near a riverside restaurant by patrolling officers at 9am.
"Initial investigations indicate that the deceased, who is fully clothed, matches the description of the missing person from yesterday.
"The deceased's family, present at the discovery site, confirmed the man's identity," he said in a statement today.
Shukri said the body has been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post-mortem.
"We have reclassified this as a sudden death case," he added.
